Leticia Delgado

Costume Mistress

Leticia M. Delgado is a costume designer and educator. She has been Ballet Lubbock’s Costume Mistress since the summer of 2016. In that time, she’s designed costumes for multiple Ballet Lubbock productions, including Click, Snow White, and The Nutcracker. Her other local design credits include costumes for the Lubbock Moonlight Musical productions of Oliver!, Oklahoma! and South Pacific. Leticia has also designed The Exception for Lubbock Christian University and Craigslisted for Texas Tech University.

Outside of Lubbock, she’s designed costumes for Into the Woods, Our Town, Art, Angels in America, Part I, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), As You Like It, The Glass Menagerie, Art, The Wiz, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Macbeth, A Streetcar Named Desire, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, A Flea in Her Ear, and The Laramie Project. Leticia’s costumes have appeared on stages across the country, from the Illinois Shakespeare Festival to the Santa Barbara Theatre Group, and have toured internationally to China and Ireland with the Santa Barbara Dance Theatre (Artistic Director Jerry Pearson). Some of Mrs. Delgado’s costume design work is included in The Director’s Vision: Play Direction from Analysis to Production (Waveland Press, 2015).

Leticia balances her duties at Ballet Lubbock with an academic career. She currently teaches at Lubbock Christian University, and has previously held professorships with Miami University and Ball State University. She also taught at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Leticia contributed a chapter to the latest costume design textbook, The Art and Practice of Costume Design (Routledge/Taylor& Francis Press, 2017). She received her MFA in Costume Design and Technology from the School of Theatre at Illinois State University. Leticia is a member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology and the Association for Theatre in Higher Education.
