Frequently Asked Questions: What makes Ballet Lubbock a dance school and not a dance studio? |
What makes Ballet Lubbock a dance school and not a dance studio? In essence, a dance school mirrors the calendar and progression of a regular school. Our students start at pre-school age, then matriculate over time and with progress, just like any other school setting. Class placement is at the sole discretion of Artistic Director Yvonne Racz. Another key difference is that at Ballet Lubbock, class sessions are not “split” between ballet, jazz, and tap. We believe that by focusing on one genre per class, you will gain the proper technique and appreciation for that particular style of dance. |
How old does my child have to be before we can sign up for classes? Children who are at least 3 years old may take Creative Movement. Ballet Lubbock also offers pre-ballet classes for children aged between 4 and 6 years old. |
Are there classes at Ballet Lubbock for adults? Yes—in fact, Adult Ballet has become one of our most popular offerings! This class is offered on a pay-per-class basis. Exact change is strongly advised, so that class can start promptly. All course information can be obtained in the Registration Packet, a PDF that includes the course listings, rates, and school calendar. |
This depends completely on the class and the frequency with which it meets. Details can be learned by downloading the Registration Packet. |
If I pay tuition installments but classes don’t start until September, then why is my first payment due in August? Installments are NOT the same thing as monthly payments. Installments are designed to break your tuition down into ten payments, keeping the installment amount at a round figure. Installments run August through May. Paying tuition by installments is one of three options; to learn more, visit School/Tuition & Fees. |
Does Ballet Lubbock offer anything besides ballet for children? Yes. Ballet Lubbock offers instruction not just in ballet but also jazz and Adult Ballet. Students enrolled in ballet classes may take jazz at discounted tuition rates. |
Does Ballet Lubbock offer gymnastics, cheer or pom? No. |
Which students can perform in The Nutcracker? Students in Levels 1-8, Apprentice Company and Company have parts in The Nutcracker. |
How do students get chosen for specific roles in Ballet Lubbock performances? Roles are determined only by audition with and at the discretion of Artistic Director Yvonne Racz. Audition dates and times are posted at Ballet Lubbock. |

Based on these parameters, only Ballet Lubbock’s staff can determine how many tickets go to which nonprofit organizations. |
